Acrylic is a lightweight, rigid and weather resistant Thermoplastic. Acrylic is safer than glass because of its greater breakage resistance, has a higher light transmittance than glass, and half the density of glass.
In sheet form acrylic is supplied in a great variety of transparent, translucent and opaque colors. The material is also supplied in a number of surface patterns.
Available in thicknesses of .060 to 4”, not all material available in all thicknesses. Shapes available in sheet, rod, tubing and profiles.
ABS is an extremely versatile thermoplastic. ABS has good chemical and stress-cracking resistance. It also combines toughness with rigidity and creep resistance. Extruded ABS sheet can be easily heat formed using any conventional thermoplastic sheet forming equipment. It is also resistant to inorganic salts, alkalies, and many acids.
Available in sheet, rod or tube. Varieties include virgin, reprocessed, acrylic cap, flame retardant or machine plate. Thicknesses available .030 to .375, not all material available in all thicknesses.
DelrinŽ is a homopolymer acetal for mechanical and electro-mechanical parts requiring extreme rigidity and dimensional stability. Here is a an ideal new material.
Glass filled 20% milled glass fibers by weight added to DelrinŽ base resin give DelrinŽ twice the stiffness of regular unreinforced DelrinŽ and impart a far higher resistance to elevated temperatures.
DelrinŽ AF contains TeflonŽ fibers, where low coefficient of friction, high resistance to abrasion and wear are required. E.I. Dupont’s trade name for Acetal.
DelrinŽ Co-polymer, Copolymer acetal offers better resistance to a wide range of chemicals, oils, greases, and solvents.
Available in sheet, rod or tube. Thicknesses available in sheet 1/16” to 4” and 1/8” to 10” rod.
High Density Polyethylene, or HDPE, offers better rigidity and tensile strength than other grades of polyethylene. Its impact strength is slightly lower, as is to be expected in a stiffer material. The other values of the material, such as chemical and corrosion resistance, are high compared to those of many other thermoplastics. HDPE is FDA/USDA approved for use in food handling applications.
HDPE is available in sheet, rod, or tube; in varieties such as virgin, reprocessed, and colored. Available in .010 to 2” thickness, not all material available in all thicknesses.
Nylon is one of the most widely used and versatile thermoplastic resins. Its combination of physical properties versus its price make it a favorite choice for numerous applications. Nylon’s toughness, wear resistance, tensile strength and lubricity make it a good choice for many mechanical parts. It has a consistent history of replacing other materials including: metal, brass, bronze, aluminum and rubber. In replacing metal gears in machinery, Nylon can be advantageous because of its ability to reduce noise, use less lubrication and increase gear life.
Some of the advantages to nylon very good physical properties, very good heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance, excellent wear resistance, fair to easy processing.
Nylon shapes available sheet, rod, tube, bushing stock, plate and profile. In thicknesses of 1/16” to 2” sheet and 1/16” to 6” rod. In varieties such as virgin, mechanical, MD, Cast-extruded.
Phenolics are characterized by low cost, superior heat resistance, high heat deflection temperatures, good electrical properties, flame resistance, excellent mold ability and dimensional stability, and good water and chemical resistance. They are of interest to the building and transportation industries due to their fire retardancy, low smoke generation and low smoke toxicity.
Phenolic is available in sheet, rod or tube. In thicknesses of 1/31” to 4” sheet and 1/8” to 8” rod. Varieties include: XX, CE, L, LE, N-1, 6-5, 6-7, 6-9, 6-10 and 6-1.
Polycarbonate, LexanŽ, is a virtually unbreakable material with good dimensional stability and rigidity and a wide range of properties, including self-extinguishing properties. It also resist chemicals and provides high tensile strength. The insulating and other electrical characteristics of polycarbonate are excellent and they are generally unaffected by greases, oils and acids.
Available in sheet, rod, tube, bushing stock, plate and profiles. Color varieties include clear, mar-resistant, gray and bronze. Thicknesses of .020 to 1/2”. Not all material available in all thicknesses.
Seaboard™ is a high density polyethylene (HDPE) sheet formulated to meet the specific requirements of marine and other outdoor environments. Many benefits to Seaboard™ includes stability, stress relieved and UV stabilized specifically for harsh marine environments. Seaboard™ is the toughest marine high density polyethylene (HDPE) available on the market. Inert Seaboard™ is impervious to the salt and moisture on boats. Thermal resistance and has a high heat distortion temperature to resist "softening". Hardness, resists scratching better the other marine polymers. Sheets meet FDA requirements for use in applications where they may come in contact with food. Consistency Seaboard™ sheet are extruded and exhibit consistent color and dimensional characteristics.
Seaboard™ comes in a matte finish and is available in 1/4” to 1” by 96” or 120.” In shades of White, Light and Dark Gray, Black, Seafoam, or Sand.
Recommended in Marine products, Park and Recreational outdoor equipment, Playground, Swimming Pool, and Food Industry.
TeflonŽ provides exceptional chemical, electrical, mechanical and thermal properties for a multitude of applications. It has one of the lower dielectric constants and dissipation factors of any solid material. It also has exceptionally high volume resistivity. Non-flammable, TeflonŽ will operate in continuous service at –550˚F. TeflonŽ is almost totally unaffected by the chemicals usually encountered in commercial use.
TeflonŽ is available in sheet, rod, or tube. Varieties include virgin, mechanical, and glass-filled. Thicknesses available 1/16” to 4” sheet and 1/8” to 6” rod.
UHMW has one of the highest impact strengths of any thermoplastic and has excellent abrasion resistance, tensile strength, energy absorption, resistance to stress, cracking, and coefficient of friction properties. UHMW coefficient of friction is significantly better than nylon and acetal and is virtually the same as TeflonŽ but has superior abrasion resistance.
UHMW in sliding applications will out wear steel 10 to 1 and stainless steel 6 to 1.
UHMW is available in sheet, rod, tube or extrusions. Varieties available virgin, regrind, and colors. Thicknesses available .010 to 4” sheet and 1/8” to 10” rod.
Please note not all sizes and colors in stock at all times.
