Rotational Castings/Die Cutting

Rotational Casting is the process whereby a liquid is poured into a mold and rotated by a rotational casting machine to coat the inside of the mold. When the liquid hardens the mold is taken out of the machine and opened to reveal a hollow casting. This process produces parts with a very fine finish. Air holes are eliminated and the finest of details are reproduced.

Johnson Plastics & Supply offers rotational casting as another option to our customers for producing their custom applications. Rotational casting offers many advantages over injection molded parts such as:

  • Lower initial setup costs
  • Seamless and stress free parts
  • Greater flexibility in products design
  • Consistent wall thickness

Rotational casting produces a hollow part that saves material, saves casting time and provides a higher level of detail. Examples of rotational casting applications produced by Johnson Plastics are cremation urns and mannequin parts ideal for robotics or displays.

Die-Cutting involves the process of stamping out shapes of material with steel rule dies adjusted to various degrees of hydraulic pressure. The application of die cut parts is used in a variety of industries.
